| Maritime Studies Centre renamed ''C.Y. Tung International Centre for Maritime Studies'' | ||
The International Centre for Maritime Studies hosted by the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies has been renamed the C.Y. Tung International Centre for Maritime Studies in recognition of the lifelong support for maritime education provided by the late shipping magnate Mr C.Y. Tung and a donation of HK$ 10 million from the Tung Foundation to PolyU. The renovated centre of 530 square metres houses two simulation laboratories and a maritime information technology laboratory for training purposes as well as commercial, technological and research needs. |

| Mr Chan Hing Fong is the Outstanding Student of the Faculty for the year 2008 | ||
Mr Chan Hing Fong, a final year student with the Department of Management and Marketing, is the Outstanding Student of the Faculty of Business for the year 2008. The Award is based on brilliant performance on 5 criteria: academic achievement, leadership, involvement in co-curricular activities, community service and personality development. For his achievement, Mr Chan was presented a certificate and a cash prize. His name has been inscribed on the Roll of Honour in the Shaw Amenities Building. |

| Doctoral Alumni Greet PolyU President in Beijing | ||
Graduates from the DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) and DMgt (Doctor of Management) programmes extended a warm welcome to Professor Timothy W. Tong, the new PolyU President, at a dinner in Beijing. A total of 30 doctoral alumni and students attended the function which was held at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Beijing Clubhouse on 1 March 2009. The Graduate School of Business organised the dinner to enable the President to meet business graduates and students on his first trip to Mainland China since taking the helm of PolyU. |

The School of Accounting and Finance ("AF") brought together 60 alumni and their former teachers on 19 March 2009 at a talk by Professor Mark Williams on Prospects for a Fair Competition Law in Hong Kong. This was the first event organised by the Alumni Affairs Unit of AF headed by Professor Mark Williams. |

| China Business Studies Alumni Reunion | ||
The MSc in China Business Studies Alumni organised a Spring Tea Gathering on 28 March 2009. This gathering of alumni and current students provided those attending to network with others in the same business area. Dr Harry Wu, the Programme Director, addressed the gathering on China Business: Facing Challenges in the Global Crisis. |

| Xi'an Jiaotong University Delegation Visits Faculty | ||
A delegation of six professors from the Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) visited the Faculty on 25 March 2009. The group included professors in technology innovation and strategy, information systems and e-Commerce, human resources management, accounting and marketing and was led by Professor Yuan Li, Dean of XJTU School of Management. The Xi'an Tongli International College at XJTU and the Faculty have jointly offered a Master of Business Administration programme in China since 2002. |
