Make "file download dialog box" appears when opening Office
XP files in Internet Explorer
When
you install Office XP, the "Confirm open after download" setting
in the "Edit File Type dialog box" is turned on for all Office
file types - Word,
PowerPoint, Excel
and Access.
The
"Confirm open after download" setting is turned on by default
to help prevent the spread of macro viruses. If your computer has been
disabled this setting, you may refer to the following steps to re-enable
it:
Step
1 is listed below in details:

- On Windows Desktop, double click "My
Computer".
Step
2 is listed below in details:

- On the menu bar,
select "Tools"
- And
then click "Folder Options..."
Step
3 is listed below in details: (PowerPoint type for this example)

- Click "File
Types" tab
- Scroll
down to locate the file type of "Microsoft
PowerPoint Presentation" (or the file type to be downloaded)
and hightlight it.
- Then, click the "Advanced"
button.

open after download" check box
- Then, click the "OK"
button

- After the "Confirm open after
download" setting is turned on, the "File Download"
dialog box appears when opening Office files.
- Click "Save"
buttonto save the file to your computer
- Or click the "Open"
button to open the file
in the browser.
