continue to explore and study the establishment of a Community College
and the extension of the usual duration of degree programmes from
three to four years. |

further support Strategic Objective 1, we will: |

continue the recruitment
of students from the Chinese mainland and actively seek external funding
support; |

promote students' involvement
in community affairs and activities through voluntary or other forms
of services; |

further enhance interaction
between students and academic staff; and |

further enhance students'
proficiency in the applications of information technology. |

further support Strategic Objective 2, we will: |

modify the credit-based
and admission systems to allow more flexibility in curriculum design
and student choice; |

reduce the barriers between
different levels of programmes; and |
| |
3.3 |
give preference to applicants
with industrial/professional experience and qualifications when recruiting,
other qualifications being equal. |

To
further support Strategic Objective 4, we will: |

4.1 |
further improve staff
quality by replacing the current staff appraisal system with a simpler
annual Development and Performance Review exercise; |

4.2

provide
a conducive, supportive, safe and healthy environment for teaching,
learning and research by enforcing better cleaning and maintenance
of the campus;

ensure the compatibility
of IT systems among departments and operating units; and |
| |
4.4 |
ensure state-of-the-art
infrastructure support and facilities, e.g., accessibility,
library, IT support, etc. |
