On 4 October, some 300 guests attended the Welfare Betterment Prize Laureate Public Lecture co-hosted by PolyU and the LUI Che Woo Prize – Prize for World Civilisation. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO), awardee of the 2018 Welfare Betterment Prize, was represented by its Secretary-General Prof. Petteri Taalas to deliver a public lecture on “Towards a Weather and Climate Resilient World” and to share WMO’s achievements in tackling global climate change.
The WMO is honoured with this year’s Welfare Betterment Prize for its significant contributions in monitoring and forecasting as well as the communication of meteorological hazards on a global scale. Details>>
