At the Hong Kong-Sichuan Exchange Conference on Investment and Trade Co-operation, PolyU Deputy President and Provost Prof. Philip Chan signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Vice Governor of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government Mr Zhu He-xin in the witness of HKSAR Chief Executive Mrs Carrie Lam. Both parties will step up collaboration in technology innovation, technology transfer and promote further development of the Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction (IDMR) jointly established by PolyU and Sichuan University. The Chief Executive also paid a visit to IDMR and learnt about its contribution in disaster relief, prevention and reconstruction work.
On 7 May at the forum “Resilience: From Disaster Management to Disaster Risk Reduction – 10 Years After Wenchuan Earthquake”, PolyU brought together its partners for an exchange on the experience in disaster management and the way forward for the quake-affected communities. In the quake-stricken places, the University has been involved in more than 70 projects in education, training, community service and research, having served over 30,000 beneficiaries. Details>>
