12 May, PolyU Executive Vice President Dr Miranda Lou delivered a keynote speech at the University Alliance of the Silk Road (UASR) Presidents’ Forum. On the theme of collaboration opportunities for international higher education arising from the One Belt One Road Initiative, Dr Lou shared PolyU’s efforts and experience with over 150 representatives from 87 higher education institutions. On the front of nurturing talent, PolyU has been working with partner institutions in the Belt and Road regions in bilateral student exchange as well as organising internship training and Service-Learning programmes to equip students to become socially responsible global citizens in future.

In the area of research development, Dr Lou introduced how the University has built on its research expertise to facilitate more collaboration in the Belt and Road regions through visiting scholar and research attachment programmes, as well as to strengthen the research capabilities and enhance technology transfer in the fields of energy, smart cities, sustainable development, logistics and shipping, and disaster risk management in meeting the needs of the region’s development.
