This summer, President Prof. Timothy W. Tong paid visits to Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Nazarbayev University and Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools to enhance academic and cultural exchange with universities and schools in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, in support of the Nation's Belt and Road Initiative.

Sprayable nanocomposite sensor technology paves new way for structural health monitoring

Prof. Su Zhongqing and Prof. Zhou Limin from the Department of Mechanical Engineering introduced their novel sprayable sensing network technology that can improve conventional structural health monitoring.

Dr Wang Dan at the Department of Computing has designed an intelligent temperature optimisation platform that can automatically adjust the temperature of an air conditioned room based on data collected from occupants.

Connections
Various departments of PolyU have organised a wide array of activities for secondary school students to enrich their learning experience during the summer. Among them was the mathematics and science competition to challenge and inspire the youngsters.
Snapshots
PolyU staged a robotic challenge for secondary school students in this summer. A series of robot-building workshops were organised to equip students with the necessary skills for creating robots.
