In celebration of PolyU 80th anniversary, three alumni put their heads together to create a theme song “Shape the future”. This rhythmic and upbeat song carries positive messages, encouraging youngsters to open up their mind to find the way to improve the world and shape the future.

The song was composed by Chan Kin-on (alumnus of School of Nursing), a member of the local Canto-pop group C AllStar; the lyrics were written by Oscar (alumnus of Department of English) and the music arrangement was made by Siu-tung (alumna of Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies). They are all promising talents in the music industry.

It is the wish of President Prof. Timothy W. Tong that not only PolyU students, but all youngsters in Hong Kong can have the spirit as described in the song. Prof. Tong was particularly touched by the lyrics saying that one perseveres his/her belief with knowledge and self-cultivation. He emphasised that knowledge and morals are equally important for today’s and tomorrow’s leaders.
