On 30 November, PolyU and Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. (Huawei) set up “PolyU-Huawei Joint Laboratory for Optical Interconnection Network and Advanced Computing System”. This is the first joint laboratory of high-capacity optical communications and advanced computing systems in Hong Kong. Through the close collaboration between the University and industry, the laboratory will facilitate the development of new technologies, high-impact translational research and next-generation technological advances in areas including long-haul and short-reach data center transmission systems, computer networks and systems as well as big data computing.
