At the competition themed “Shangri-La Re-Creates: The Search for the Best Upcycled Design” jointly organized by PolyU’s School of Design and Shangri-La International Hotel Management Limited, six student teams were presented Shangri-la Upcycling Awards for their functionally and aesthetically designed products created with obsolete items from the hotels. With good use of various consumed materials (such as corks and glass bottles), the winning designs achieved high standards of environmental-friendliness, function, safety, creativity and production friendliness. The designs may also be used by the organizing hotels in the future. Congratulations to the winners and their tutors Mr Benny Leong and Mr Brian Lee!
