With the support of their advisors, students and graduates at the School of Design have recently scooped various international and local awards.

At Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award 2015, four students and graduates won the CreateSmart Young Design Talent Special Award. They were Eddie Wong, Comma Leung, Emily Tang and Westley Wong. In addition, Lam Chun-yin won PolyU School of Design Young Design Talent Award.

Fresh graduates in Environmental and Interior Design - Dominic Cheung won a Silver award with his BeSpoke Nature project and Yazh Yip was selected among the Best 10 (student category) at the Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards 2015. Dominic’s project also received a Certificate of Excellence (Student Architecture) at A&D Trophy Awards 2015. In the Think Design Make Competition organized by British Council Hong Kong, Collin Shen was awarded a trip to the UK to visit Heatherwick Studio, the Design Museum and iconic buildings in London. In Manchester, he would build a model of his award-winning “Into the Woods” bridge.

In addition, product design students Leung Hiu-fung and Tai Yan-ying received two awards and the opportunity to enter final rounds of three international competitions. Their winning projects were: Formicary Chair won a Certificate of Excellence (Student Product Design) at A&D Trophy Awards 2015; Turning Chair was named Winner (Student Design) at INDUSTART; and Quartz was selected as a Finalist at LAMP (Lighting Architecture Movement Project).
