On 15 January, PolyU hosted a technology development activity titled “Empowering Global Food Safety” with the support of Hong Kong Food Safety Association and Hong Kong Food Council. Over 150 participants from academia, industry and government bodies gathered to discuss the latest challenges in global food safety and share the best practices in safeguarding public health.

Concurrently, the University initiated the Food Safety Consortium. As a unique food safety technology exchange platform, the Consortium aims to create a network of stakeholders in assisting the industry and community to tackle food safety issues, supported by PolyU’s applied technologies.
