The year 2014 marks the 40th anniversary of the Department of Computing. A series of celebratory events were organized including the inaugural International Conference on Smart Computing “SMARTCOMP 2014” and a Gala Dinner cum Distinguished Alumni Award Presentation Ceremony.

With the participation of over a hundred local and overseas experts in the field, the “SMARTCOMP 2014” conference saw keynote speeches delivered by world renowned professors, Prof. Yale Patt at the University of Texas at Austin and Prof. Tarek Abdelzaher at the University of Illinois at Urban Champaign.

Following the conference was the anniversary gala dinner which was graced by Mr Daniel Lai, Government Chief Information Officer and recipient of this year’s Honorary Alumni Award, as well as other awardees of the Distinguished Alumni Award.
