In collaboration with Perfect Green, a company specializing in environmental-friendly products and customized environmental solutions, Dr Carman Lee, Assistant Professor of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, has developed a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tracking and monitoring system for the food and beverage industry. The system will enhance the efficiency of dishwashing systems, improve the operation and logistics decision-making quality and provide advanced architecture for dishwashing services systems in factories and logistics teams.

Under the system, a RFID tag is assigned to each dish container. While the containers pass through the readers installed at strategic check points, information can be instantly fed to the system at the fingertips, from pick-up to transport and from dishwashing to warehousing. Using radio waves to automatically identify multiple objects without the line-of-sight interaction, the system also has advantages including heat-resistance and water-proofing.

In addition, automatic alerts generated at different processes enable better logistics planning through prioritizing particular batches according to actual traffic and specific needs. The system is thus a solution to cater for customers’ needs for professional and reliable dishwashing services through undisrupted supply of clean and hygienic tableware.
