Study on the efficacy of parenting education

Dr Tang Fuk-hay of PolyU’s Department of Health Technology and Informatics has partnered with Dr Thomas Leung of CUHK’s Department of Medicine and Therapeutics to introduce the Telestroke System using the PolyU-developed Security-Enhanced Mobile Image Distribution System.

Winning the 2013 HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Award in Singapore earlier, the system enables neurologists to conduct remote diagonsis of stroke patients and risk assessment for thrombolysis through mobile electronic devices like laptops and tablets.

In May 2012, the Prince of Wales Hospital launched a 24-hour thrombolysis service with this technology. Since then, the hospital has recorded a threefold increase in the number of stroke patients who received thrombolysis. Timely thrombolysis therapy can improve the chance of neurological recovery.
