PolyU students capture Championships in intervarsity sports and debate competitions

PolyU athletes win Men’s and Women’s Championships

Congratulations to all PolyU student-athletes on winning the Overall Championship in both Men’s and Women’s categories at the Inter-universities Sports Competitions 2012.

This is undoubtedly a year of sweat, tears and joy for the sports teams of the University. Their hard-work and perseverance deservedly paid off as they took the Grand Slam of Overall Championship, the first time in history for PolyU to outperform other institutions in the Competitions.

PolyU debate team captures Championship

After a series of exciting matches, PolyU Student Debate Team won the Championship of the 2012 Hong Kong Inter-collegiate Debate Competition co-organized by RTHK and Hong Kong Federation of Students. Team captain Tang Ho-lap also won The Best Debater Award for his outstanding performance. The final round of matches was held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on 14 April. The motion was “The Individual Visit Scheme brings more benefits than harms to Hong Kong”, with Hong Kong Baptist University as the affirmative and PolyU the negative.

Other institutions participating in the Competition were the University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Institute of Education, Lingnan University and Hong Kong Shue Yan University.
