PolyU President Prof. Timothy W. Tong, Vice President (Academic Development) Prof. Walter Yuen, and Vice President (Institutional Advancement and Partnership) Prof. Angelina Yuen, recently led a delegation to Beijing, and met with Mr Wang Guangya, Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council.

In addition, the delegation met with Mr Du Yubo, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education of the PRC. Mr Du warmly welcomed the delegation and commended the University’s application-oriented programmes which meet the needs of industry and society. Prof. Tong introduced PolyU’s development on the Chinese mainland in recent years. He said that PolyU would grasp the opportunities arising from the 12th Year-Plan, and contribute to the social development of the Pearl River Delta and the mainland with its strengths in education, research and partnerships with industry.

They also exchanged their views on the higher education reform in Hong Kong and the mainland.
