The Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences organized a Distinguished Lecture Series themed “Powering the Planet - Hong Kong’s Energy Challenge” recently. Upon the invitation of the Academy, PolyU President Prof. Timothy W. Tong gave a presentation on “World Energy Demand and Energy Security for Hong Kong”. Prof. Tong gave a review on the major trends of energy consumption in the world and the various technologies used to generate electricity. He also shared his view on energy security implications for Hong Kong.
