PolyU-designed chess sets for visually impaired very well received in the mainland

PolyU – the most outstanding institution in participating in blood donation

Prof. Michael Siu of the School of Design has previously invented the Chinese chess set with an inclusive and universal concept. The chess set enables the visually impaired and the blind people to enjoy playing chess with other people.

Following the earlier donation of 1,000 Chinese chess sets to the China Administration of Sports for Persons with Disabilities and the China Association of the Blind by the Bunhoi Group, the Chinese chess has been introduced to provincial and national chess competitions for the blind and the chess sets have also been distributed to various provinces and cities on the Chinese mainland.
