"Silk Road International Summer School 2018" was officially launched in Xi'an on July 2. The Silk Road International Summer School, co-organised by Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), has been held every summer since 2014. Since the "University Alliance of The Silk Road" was established, more and more Belt and Road universities have participated, and over 700 students have joined the programme - including PolyU students, overseas students and Chinese mainland students. This year, the programme was once again sponsored by the Alum Foundation.
- 27 JunPolyU Service-Learning Programme --- Bringing Love to Migrant Children
More than 100 students and teachers from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and 10 teachers and students from Ng Yuk Secondary School went to Hangzhou Shu Ren Primary School on June 27 to launch the programme “Promotion of Children and Adolescent Development”. PolyU has been serving migrant children in Shanghai and Hangzhou since 2013. At the same time, it has been carrying out this project in Hong Kong primary and secondary schools. Thousands of PolyU teachers and students have now participated in this programme.

PolyU held the forum on “Resilience: From Disaster Management to Disaster Risk Reduction – 10 Years After Wenchuan Earthquake” today (7 May) to share the achievements of the projects, to discuss with various collaborators and partners on the lessons learnt from the disaster, and to explore the way forward for the earthquake-affected communities. The forum was officiated by Mr John Lee Ka-chiu, Secretary for Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The Silk Road International School of Engineering (SRISE) jointly set up by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) has rolled out its first university-industry collaboration project. Partnering with State Grid Corporation of China (State Grid) and The Hongkong Electric Company, Limited (HK Electric), SRISE has launched the Belt and Road Advanced Professional Development Programme in Power and Energy (the Programme). The Programme’s first cohort of participants attended their graduation ceremony in Hong Kong today (26 April), after having taken part in a series of field-trip studies and exchanges in April.
