Highlights of Project Outcomes

  • “Designing an Outcome-Oriented Programme (a 5-session Certificate Short Course)": session 4. Aligning Assessment with Intended Learning Outcomes took place on 26th October, 2004
  • Faculty of Construction and Land Use (FCLU) Forum on “Experience Sharing on Curriculum Revision” (December 2004)
  • “Seminar on Guidelines for the Implementation of Criterion-Referenced Approach to Assessment” for Faculty of Applied Science and Textiles, Faculty of Construction and Land Use, and Faculty of Engineering took place on 8th March, 10th March and 14th March 2005.

The impact of these activities in improving teaching and learning

  • They help teachers more understand the importance of student-teacher interaction in the teaching and learning process, whether traditional or web-based teaching is adopted; and of the alignment between objectives, teaching and learning methods, and assessment methods.
  • A model for criterion referenced approach of assessment based on the spirit of SOLO Taxonomy has been developed based on the findings and advice of external project assessors. This model is incorporated into the re-structured programme curriculum of BSc(Hons) in Geomatics.
