Background Information of Hong Kong
Hong Kong , which comprises little more than 1,000 square kilometres (400 square miles) has a population of almost 7 million people. It is a dynamic city that blends both east and west, and is full of surprises. (Visit the Hong Kong Tourism Board for further information.)
Climate
In June 2004, the mean temperature at Hong Kong is around 28 degree Celsius. The weather tends to be hot with high humidity and some isolated showers.
Time
Standard time in Hong Kong is 8 hours ahead of GMT.
Currency
Hong Kong has its own currency, the Hong Kong dollar (HK$), which is linked to the US dollar, and trades at around HK$7.8 to US$1.

Entry Requirement
All visitors to Hong Kong must hold a valid passport. Visitors
from most countries can enter Hong Kong without a visa for periods
of seven days to six months, depending on nationality. Please check
with any Chinese embassy or consulate for the latest status, and
you may also visit the Immigration
Department of Hong Kong for further details.

Tourism
There are many tour options that you can take either before, or after the conference that will enrich your visit to Hong Kong.
Some examples are day tours of Hong Kong’s famous harbour, land tours of Kowloon and the New Territories. You can also visit Victoria Peak, Aberdeen’s Fishing Village and the Jumbo Restaurant, Stanley Market, and Temple Street Market, and even take a helicopter ride.
