Quality Assurance Matters
 

  • Provide advice on interpretation and implementation of academic policies and regulations
  • Provide administrative support in the planning and implementation of new academic policies and quality assurance systems
  • Provide administrative support in the planning of new programmes and modifications to existing programmes
  • Responsible for Senate matters and co-ordinate the work of Senate Committees
  • Provide secretarial services for relevant Committees which include the Academic Appeals Committee, the Academic Planning Committee, the Quality Assurance Committee (Academic Departments) and the Student Discipline Committee

Admission Matters
 

  • Provide guidelines on the operation of admission exercises for different categories of applicants and their detailed working schedule
  • Receive and process applications for admission to programmes leading to PolyU awards
  • Produce selection documents for Departments' reference
  • Arrange result announcements and registration of admittees

Registration Matters
 

  • Provide guidelines and detailed work schedule on the operation of various registration activities
  • Arrange programme registration for new students
  • Arrange re-enrolment of current students including overseeing the settlement of tuition and other fees on a semester basis
  • Organize subject registration (including selection of GE subjects and additional subjects) for students on a semester basis
  • Co-ordinate the centralised class timetabling exercise, covering scheduling and assignment of teaching rooms
  • Arrange students' enrolment on major/minor studies and/or double degree studies

Examination Matters
 

  • Provide documents on the conduct of examinations, including Manual for Examination Invigilations and Announcement by Invigilators during Examinations
  • Provide guidelines and detailed working schedule on the processing of examination results
  • Co-ordinate examination timetabling including the assignment of examination venues

General Matters on Admission, Registration and Examination
 

  • Advise on admission, registration and examination regulations, procedures and arrangements
  • Organize briefing sessions and hands-on workshops to familiarise departmental staff with the admissions, registration and examination arrangements/system
  • Advise on the operation of the supporting computerised systems and conduct review with the assistance of Information Technology Services Office (ITS) where appropriate
  • Solicit comments from departments on various arrangements and system support
  • Co-ordinate announcements on arrangement for admission interview/test, registration and examination activities in the event of typhoon and rainstorm warnings via AS's administered Interactive Voice Response System
