Guidelines on Non-local Qualifications PolyU welcomes applications from quality candidates from around the world. Due to the differences in education systems, school-leaving qualifications that are acceptable for entrance to universities in other places may not necessarily be acceptable for entrance to an undergraduate programme at PolyU. To be eligible to apply for admission to our full-time government-funded (HKALE-entry) bachelor¡¦s degree programmes, candidates who have studied under a non-local curriculum are expected to have achieved an academic standard equivalent to GCE A-level, or have satisfactorily completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma or the first year of university education. The following guidelines are for reference of non-local students who wish to seek admission to PolyU. If you marginally fail to attain the grades or scores specified for certain qualifications, you may still be considered for admission if you have excellent performance at the selection interview. If you do not have any of the following qualifications but have other acceptable qualifications, you may be considered for admission to our full-time bachelor¡¦s degree programmes taking an additional foundation year. Australia	Senior Secondary Certificate of Education; and - a Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER), Universities Admission Index (UAI), or Equivalent National Tertiary Entrance Rank (ENTER) of 80, - or an Overall Position (OP) Band between 1 and 10
Bangladesh*	Satisfactory completion of at least one year of study at a recognised university
Brunei*	Cambridge GCE Advanced Level and Ordinary Level, or equivalent, which satisfy PolyU's entrance requirements, normally with grade C in 3 Advanced Level subjects
Canada	For Ontario: High School Diploma with - an average of 70% in six Grade 12 U or M courses, or - an average of 70% in six Ontario Academic Courses (OAC) For Quebec: Diplôme d¡¦Etudes Collˆogiales (DEC) with an average of 70 marks For Other Provinces: Provincial High School Diploma with an average of 70% or Grade B in five Grade 12 subjects
Chinese mainland*	Satisfactory completion of a recognised international curriculum as listed here^†
Denmark*	Satisfactory completion of either of the following - Studentereksamen - Hojere Forberedelsesksamen (HF) - Hojere Handelseksamen (HHX) - Hojere Teknisk Eksamen (HTX)
Egypt*	Satisfactory completion of at least one year of study at a recognised university

India*	An average of 75% in five subjects in any of the following awarded by CBSE, CISCE or the National Open School Board upon completion of standard XII: - Indian School Certificate - Intermediate Certificate - Higher School Certificate - Higher Secondary Certificate - All India Senior School Certificate - Pre-University Course
Indonesia*	Satisfactory completion of at least one year of study at a recognised university
Ireland	Honours passes (B3 and above) in five higher level subjects in the Leaving Certificate
Japan*	Satisfactory completion of at least one year of study at a recognised university
Macau SAR*	Cambridge Overseas Higher School Certificate (COHSC)/recognised GCE Advanced Level and Ordinary Level, or equivalent, which satisfy PolyU's entrance requirements, normally with grade C in 3 Advanced Level subjects
Malaysia*	- Passes in 3 subjects in Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM), other than the language subjects, or - Passes in 5 subjects in the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC), other than the language subjects, with total scores not exceeding 12
Mexico*	Satisfactory completion of at least one year of study at a recognised university
Myanmar*	Satisfactory completion of at least two years of study of an honours degree programme at a recognised university
Netherlands*	Satisfactory completion of Voorbereidend Weternshappelijk Onderwijs (VWO) Diploma
New Zealand	- National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3, or - Bursary B
Norway*	Satisfactory completion of Vietnemål fra den Videregående Skolen
Pakistan*	Satisfactory completion of at least one year of study at a recognised university
Singapore	- Singapore/ Cambridge GCE Advanced Level and Ordinary Level, or equivalent, which satisfy PolyU's entrance requirements, normally with grade C in 3 Advanced Level subjects; or - Diploma from Ngee Ann, Nanyang, Republic, Singapore, or Temasek Polytechnic
South Africa	National Senior Certificate with satisfactory results
South Korea*	Satisfactory completion of at least one year of study at a recognised university
Sri Lanka*	GCE Advanced Level and Ordinary Level, or equivalent, which satisfy PolyU's entrance requirements, normally with grade C in 3 Advanced Level subjects
Sweden*	Satisfactory completion of Fullstandigt Slutbetyg
Taiwan*	Satisfactory completion of at least one year of study at a recognised university
Thailand*	Satisfactory completion of at least one year of study at a recognised university
United Kingdom	- GCE Advanced Level and Ordinary Level, or equivalent, which satisfy PolyU's entrance requirements, normally with grade C in 3 Advanced Level subjects, Advanced Vocational Certificate of Education (AVCE), Advanced General National Vocational Qualification (Advanced GNVQ), or Scottish Advanced Higher Level - Ordinary National Diploma (OND)/Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) National Diploma
United States of America	A High School (Graduation) Diploma and either of the following: - a combined score of 1650 in the SAT Reasoning Test, with a sub-score of 8 on essay writing - an American College Test (ACT) composite score of 23 - grade 3 in two Advanced Placement (AP) subjects
