Over 24,000 secondary school students and members of the public visited PolyU on the Education Info Weekend held on 12 and 13 October 2002 to obtain first hand information on our study programmes and campus facilities. Some 52 careers teachers also joined the Forum for Careers Teachers held on 12 October.

The six faculties and their 29 constituent academic departments, the Students' Union and various student groups, AS and other academic support and student services departments, HKCC and SPEED all took an active part in this event, involving over 1,800 staff and students.

With the slogan "65 years of education and innovation, 200,000 alumni the pillars of our community", the Info Weekend featured a variety of activities including exhibitions, seminars, video shows, guided tours, student and staff performances, and stall games. The activities brought about a festive atmosphere around the campus.

Professional disc jockey and alumnus Mr Law Kai-sun shares a day of fun with the visitors.

The "PolyU Broadcast Station", which was held for the second year, also added some colour to the event. Professional disc jockeys were invited to broadcast interviews of alumni and employers, chat with our student ambassadors and share a day of fun and songs with the visitors.

In order to help senior secondary students make their choices of study, the Academic Secretariat had arranged two talks on "Admission Tips" at JCA. During these talk sessions, our University student ambassadors advised the secondary school students on admission arrangements, selection criteria and shared with them their personal experience of making their choices for their JUPAS applications.

New initiatives of the event included "PolyU Tongue Twister" in which three interesting tongue twisters were created by CBS to help implant positive impressions/messages about our University in the mind of the visitors in a fun-filled setting.

The Performances staged outside Li Ka Shing Tower by both students and staff also added to the festive atmosphere. Both students and staff showed their talents in various aspects like singing, dancing, acting, etc.

SAO had arranged guided tours for visitors to our new Student Halls of Residence. In addition, SAO also held an activity of "PolyU Sportsmen", which showcased the outstanding achievements of our students in various sports in a lively manner. Both activities gave the public some snapshots of the non-academic aspect of PolyU's colourful campus life.

The "PolyU's House of Innovation" also showcased the expertise and achievements of the PolyU in its Research and Development endeavours.
