1969-72 Undergraduate student at Hong Kong University, awarded B.Soc.Sc. Degree in Statistics and Sociology.
1974-75 Graduate student at London School of Economics, London University,
awarded M.Sc. in demography.
1978-79 Supported by a no-paid leave and a Population Council (New York) Fellowship as Research student at London School of Economics, awarded M.Phil. in demography.
1984-85 Supported by a sabbatical leave as a graduate student at Monash University, awarded Graduate Diploma in Operational Research.
Subjects Taught
Main areas of teaching duties are survey sampling, basic and inferential statistics, social and economic statistics, project supervision and case studies at degree and higher diploma level.

Consultancy Undertaken :
As an active member of the Statistical Advisory Unit of the AMA, have conducted the following projects:
1996-97
¡¥Opinions of users and non-users of the museum services¡¦, bid successfully for a public tender, and commissioned by the Provisional Urban Council. We conducted a large-scale opinion survey with a sample size of five thousand by telephone interview and personal interview to gauge customer satisfaction and opinions on the four museums run by the Provisional Urban Council.
1999 ¡¥Market research on the market trend of mobile phones¡¦, commissioned by the Motorola Asia Pacific Limited to assess customers¡¦ opinions on displays of Motorola mobile phones at retail shops.
2000 ¡¥Thematic Household Survey¡¦, commissioned by the Census and Statistics
Department, the government of the HKSAR. It was conducted jointly with the MVA, an international consultancy firm. We were responsible for the sampling design and analysis of data.
2001-02
¡¥The Energy Consumption Project¡¦, commissioned by the Energy Board of the government of the HKSAR (jointly with the MVA). We were responsible for the sampling design and building up models for energy (electricity and gas) consumption in Hong Kong.
¡¥General-teaching room requirement projection¡¦, a project of the Space Allocation and Minor Works Committee (SAMWC) chaired by Professor Ko and commissioned by the President Office of the PolyU. We modelled the GT room requirement and made suggestions to the management of the PolyU.
¡¥Facilities Allocation and Utilization Management¡¦ a project of the President Office of the PolyU, chaired by Professor Ko. We participated in a workshop, wrote a report and presented it to the Management Committee of the PolyU.
¡¥Design and implementation of student feedback evaluation system¡¦ commissioned by the School of Professional Education and Executive Development (SPEED).

¡¥Overall Study on Reviewing the Progress and Evaluating the Information Technology in Education (ITEd) Projects 1998/2003¡¦, commissioned by the Education Department, HKSAR. It was a large-scaled survey to assess the use of IT in secondary schools. I was responsible for the sampling design of the survey.
¡¥Energy Consumption Factorization and Projection for Hong Kong¡¦, commissioned by the Energy Board of the HKSAR (jointly with the MVA). We designed the sample for the survey and built up models from the data collected.
¡¥Statistical advice on the legal case of Hugo Boss¡¦ as requested by Eccles & Lee, a legal firm.
¡¥Statistical Analysis for the Coverage of Service by Galaxy Satellite Broadcasting Limited via Direct-To-Home System¡¦, commissioned by the Galaxy Satellite Broadcasting Limited. We designed and conducted a survey to assess the coverage rate of the Galaxy Satellite among the village houses, bungalows, etc. in Hong Kong.
2005-06
¡¥Student Development Task and Lifestyle Assessment (SDTLA) Study¡¦
commissioned by the Student Affairs Office, the Polytechnic University. We
conducted the survey, analysed the data and wrote a report for the SAO.
¡¥2006 Performance Pledge Survey on the university health service, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University¡¦, commissioned by the University Health Service of the PolyU. We conducted the survey, analyzed the data and wrote a report to assess the performance pledge of the university health service.
¡¥Employee Survey 2006¡¦ commissioned by the Hong Kong Housing Society. We analysed the data collect by the Hong Kong Housing Society and wrote a report on the employee¡¦s opinions concerning the management of the Housing Society.
¡¥Knowledge of and Attitude towards law among adolescents in Hong Kong¡¦, commissioned by the Law Society of Hong Kong. We conducted a large-scale survey to gauge secondary school students¡¦ knowledge and attitude.
