First Ransomware Targeting Android Platform Found

Simplocker is the first confirmed case of ransomware which infects Android devices. It is a Trojan horse that encrypts files on Android devices and asks users for a ransom for file decryption. Take a look at what will happen if your device is compromised and the tips to avoid infection.


Renewal of Microsoft Software Licences for Staff Working on Campus and at Home - Updated Software List

The site licences for a list of commonly-used MS software covered under the Microsoft Campus Agreement have been renewed. Staff members can continue to enjoy free use of some popular MS software tools on University-owned PCs as well as their home PCs for work-related purposes. Find out the updated list of software products included in the new agreement.



Computer Equipment Maintenance Service - New Service Provider and Service Hotline

ITS centrally co-ordinates maintenance services for departmental PC systems and peripherals with outside vendors. The service contract for the 2 year period from 1 July 2014 – 30 June 2016 has been awarded to Jardine OneSolution (JOS). Check out the new service hotline and the service hours.
