About the entries:
- Each team could only submit 1 entry (for all participating teams: executive summary & business plan; and in addition for all shortlisted teams: powerpoint presentation file, best of the best commercial, elevator pitch video) per Challenge.
- The entries must be the original work of the teams.
- No amendment/replacement of entry is allowed upon submission online on or before the stated deadline(s).
About your submission:
- Each business plan should be no more than 20 A4 pages (secondary school division) / 25 A4 pages (university division) including all content pages and appendix. Executive summary should be no more than 1 A4 page for either division. Pages outside the allowed limit will not be assessed.
- All documents submitted (such as business plans, executive summaries, authorization forms) for entering the Challenge must be in English and submitted online via this website on or before the stated deadlines.
- All qualified submissions will be reproduced in white A4 paper and will be sent to judges for paper assessment. Therefore, please ensure the presentation of your submission is legible and clear when printed out in 100% full color as per your original file.
- Your team will be disqualified if there is any evidence of copyright infringements or plagiarism.
- To ensure fairness, teams must identify themselves using the team names in all submissions including the business plans, executive summaries, elevator pitch and best of the best commercial which should contain no association to the representing institutions.
About the teams – in general:
- In the secondary school division, each team must comprise of 3 student members only (one of whom must act as the team leader) plus one mentor (any full time staff from the representing school who will act as guardian for the team); in the university division, each team must comprise of a minimum of 3 student members and a maximum of 4 student members (one of who must act as the team leader and the 4th student member will be self-funded).
- Each participant can only join one team per Challenge. Teams will be disqualified if there is duplicate entry of any team members.
- No amendment of team participants’ particulars will be allowed once registration process is completed online.
- By entering the competition, participants are automatically bound by the agreement in granting PolyU the right to reproduce, disclose or use the submitted materials for its publicity, marketing and other internal purposes.
- All participants are abide by all rules and regulations as set out for the Challenge. The organizer reserves the right to disqualify any teams that fail to conform to the rules and regulations of the Challenge.
- Sponsored student members must be full time secondary school students or undergraduates at the time of the Final Competition in June 2013 for their respective division. In either division, up to 3 qualified student members per team will be sponsored. The 4th student member in the University Division will have to bear his/her own costs in relations to the flights (which must be the same flight as that of the sponsored student members) and insurance arrangements. Accommodation at PolyU Student Halls of Residence and costs in relations to the programmed activities will be provided by the organizer.
About the teams – shortlisted:
- Sponsored student members must attend all compulsory activities arranged by PolyU from 22-28 June 2013 and will be required to sign-in/out of the Student Halls of Residence if one wishes to explore the city during his/her free time provided that there is no scheduled activity during such period.
- For the secondary school division, it is compulsory for each team to have one mentor (who must be full time staff from the representing school) and such mentor must accompany the shortlisted team to/from Hong Kong on the same flights (at his/her own expenses) and accompany them during 22-28 June 2013 and attend all programmed activities. Any shortlisted teams in the secondary school division who fail to comply with this requirement will be treated as withdrawn from the Semi-Final.
- All mentors of the secondary school division and all team leaders of both divisions are required to act as the teams’ point of contact with the organizer and shall bear full responsibility of the student participants during the Challenge at all times.
- All participants of shortlisted teams (sponsored/non-sponsored student members, mentors and accompanying academics) will need to bear full responsibilities on his/her own safety at all times during the Challenge. Insurance coverage provided by the organizer to the sponsored student members will be applicable to the programmed activities only.
- All participants of shortlisted teams (ditto) will need to bear all related costs should s/he requires to obtain any form of travel documents (such as visa or passports) for the trip to/from Hong Kong as well as all costs that may incur for the local transfers to/from the airports in their home countries.
- All participants of shortlisted teams (ditto) must abide by the rules and regulations as set out in the PolyU Student Handbook (where applicable) during their stay on campus.
Distribution of prize monies:
- Each member of the winning teams will be provided with a consent form post announcement of the results. Participants are required to sign and agree amongst themselves on the payment distribution arrangements on the spot for the organizer to proceed with necessary arrangements.
About the sub-themes:

Each team is required to specify which of the 4 sub-themes that the business plan falls under. It is then verify by the panel of Moderators if the chosen sub-theme is qualified, with reference to the definitions as listed on the website or otherwise. All shortlisted teams will be informed accordingly on the final decision of the aforementioned Moderators with respect to the chosen sub-theme and only qualified teams will be able to compete for the respective Theme Award at the Semi-Final. 30 shortlisted teams in the same division will be grouped according to their chosen sub-themes, i.e., with a total of 4 groups. Within each sub-theme group, the team obtained the highest total score at the Semi-Final will be the Awardee of individual theme award, if applicable.

SEMI-FINAL
About the venue:
- The Semi-Final round will take place in a total of 10 classrooms (5 per division) concurrently, each with a capacity of 50-80pax.
- While the team is presenting, no entry/exit of the classroom is allowed to avoid disturbance.
- There will be other teams sitting in as audience in the classrooms at the Semi-Final round.
About the Semi-Final Competition:
- No amendment of the powerpoint file is allowed post submission deadline on 30 April 2013.
- No videoing or photo-taking will be allowed during the presentations.

Each team’s one minute pre-submitted pitch will be played prior to the presentation timeslot.

Presentation
Each team will be given an uninterrupted [15-minute for Secondary School Division / 20-minute for University Division] timeslot to present their business plan in front of a panel of judges using the powerpoint file submitted as per the submission deadline of 30 April 2013.
Each team will be provided with a wireless remote control (optional) and one hand-held microphone for use at the presentation.

Each team will have a dedicated 10-minute for replying to questions from the judging panel.

FINAL
About the venue:
- University Division at the Jockey Club Auditorium:
This is the biggest auditorium on PolyU campus with capacity of over 1,000 audience. Each of the finalist team will present on stage during their assigned timeslot. Non-finalist teams are welcome to attend as audience.
- Secondary School Division at the Chiang Chen Studio Theatre:
This venue hosts just over 200 audiences. All finalist teams will present on stage during their assigned timeslot one after the other. Non-finalist teams are welcome to attend as audience.
Format:
- This will be identical to the Semi-Final competition.
- The powerpoint file that the finalist teams will be using at the Final will be identical to that of the Semi-Final’s. No amendment is allowed.
